In my case, don't get started with a site that needs specialized and elaborate coding. Keep your needs as simple as possible, and concentrate on learning and making money.

this website.

When I first started AM, I was distributing flyers door-to-door hahaha, and then I was hired to work at Blockbuster for their total access website (online dvd rentals), right when they first introduced it in October 2006, nobody knew about their new program. If I knew what I know now, I could've made a killing. I don't think I'll have another opportunity like that, that was the same as having an insider trade secret in the stock market. I could've cleaned up.

I wished I hadn't spent so much time on forums. And a lot more time in tryng things of my own idea vs. others that I read.

When I first started I tried doing everything myself, huge waste of time.

^^ Those and the fact that you can actually sell affiliate products like you would be hoarding your own stuff. For example -- 50% of hosting leads I do are sold on IM or Phone, just like I would be selling my own stuff.

Also, it would have been good knowing that PPC was not only for the big guys and even starters could dabble into it. Yeah, I know.

+1

I did the exact same thing. But now instead of wasting my time with technical crap I am always coming up with new tests and ideas. I then take them to my developer and he does it 10x faster and with better quality than I ever could.

Find a development partner and stick with them!

On that note... If anyone is looking to create a partnership with a developer/techie im entertaining offers...

I wish I knew that Credit Cards were a bad choice for a first website...

Haha, me too. Haven't made $0.01 off my site, Credit Cards

I should note that I have left the site alone, I realize it's not SEO'ed like it would need to be to make money. I left it and moved on to a less competitive niche

I wish I have had more money so I could have used outsourcing more. And I wish somebody would have told me how much time this actually takes and no, I'm not one of those guys who thought this is going to be 1 hour work days... But this really takes time :)
