Whats a better domain name ...

If you are purchasing a product domain name what would be a better purchase...


For example

buycanonpowershot.com

or canonpowershot.net


What would be the better domain name to purchase? Does the .net take away from the domain names potential or does it really matter?

..could always go for both but looking for a real answer.

That makes sense. I'm asking more for organic search and type-in traffic rather than arbitrage. I guess for type-in traffic .com is better for obvious reasons.
