What Would This Do?

I was just watching a video about a couple PPC software programs, and during the video the guy says he put "&word={KeyWord}" in his affiliate URL for dynamic keyword insertion. What's the reasons for doing this exactly? Does it increase your QS if the keyword is in the URL or does it change the landing page according to the keyword or something?

He is tracking which keywords are becoming converting, revenue generating customers and optimize his advertising towards those that perform. And, likewise, stop bidding on keywords that don't convert at all.

This is something I haven't implemented but it would be pretty killer if you're doing large scale PPC to Aff campaigns.

Tracking for one, and QS if you end up inserting that KW into your landing page if you're using your own landing page, using PHP or another web programming language.
