What should I be doing while I wait for my website to rank high?

My website is only 1 month old but it's doing great, tons of great content, it's gotten popular on Instagram/tumblr/pinterest and it's receiving a fair amount of daily visitors from both social networks and google. I am getting linked to a lot from social media and random forums. But I read I won't reach any significant rankings until the site has aged at least 6 months.

I do work daily to get more social followers/traffic and adding a bit of content every week, the problem is the gold mine for my niche is all in google searches. So while I'm waiting on google what should I be doing? I really want to hit this homerun before starting a new project because I have a habit of hyper focusing on one thing and completely losing interest/tracking of another.

Looking back at this post in hindsight it's pretty clear the only thing I really can do is keep on workin'. Which is what I will do.

Thanks Rez-G.

This is simply not true. You won't have the authority power to stay until about 6 months, maybe. But to rank, this is simply not real

So it's possible to rank highly in a short amount of time (say 1-2 months)? And without having an aged domain?

Its possible, but what skohh is saying is that you got tons of criteria to look and 6 months is really not realistic for age of the site to rank. Is the niche easy or not? If it is easy and you got really solid content that's shared and traffic is flourishing you can definitely rank within a few weeks to a few months, saying that there's no competition and even if the site is just a month old

If the niche however is like real hard, even if you got great content but something is lacking like sharing, good, solid stable backlinks, your competition is dominating for like 20 years in the business, then you might not rank at all. Unless your a real pro and not a beginner in the business. There's really a lot of things to look at but saying that the site will "only" rank after 6 months simply isnt true

It sounds like your content is engaging the readers, so you've got that going for you. Plus you're gaining natural links which is a good thing as well. However, is your good content related to what you're trying to rank for? How is your on page SEO? Are you interlinking pages, posts etc. If so, then you should start looking to acquire links with the best metrics you can afford. Pagerank, Domain Authority, Trust Flow, the higher the better. I'm assuming this is a long term project that you want to keep as clean as possible. Good content & on page SEO. Even better links, plus your social activity is a good recipe for ranking well. Don't give up on getting that social traffic. Don't put all your eggs in the Google basket when you don't have to.
