What Program can you use to write PDF files?

Hello,

I have looked around and found nothing on the subject.

I want to make some adobe reader files (PDF) and I cannot find out how to actually write the files, and add my own backgrounds, headers and footer images to the file.

I know people here write ebooks, (this is not what I plan on doing) so I was wondering if you could point me in the right direction.

If you want free, I often use the software from: http://pdf995.com/

You can make your document in Word, and then you select the pdf995 software to "print" to and it saves it as a .PDF

I use Adobe InDesign for PDF layouts. When I want to convert a document to the PDF format from say Word, I use Acrobat Professional. PrimoPDF is the best free software I've seen.
