What is the best way to mask your 'affiliate' link?

Sometimes I don't want to show my affiliate link to the public and mask my link using tinyurl for example. Anyway, this is masking links my way! :evil_laughter:

What other/better ways are you guys using to mask links?

zapp could you go into more detail on how to set this up?

lets say your domain is yourdomain.com. You create a directory affiliatelink so the redirect is www.yourdomain.com/affiliatelink/

create a file called .htaccess in the root directory of your domain with the following content:

Redirect permanent /affiliatelink http://your-affiliate-link.com/?id=x

I create urls from my own site and then redirect them to the affiliate link.

sometimes if i'm lazy to do that, I just cut and paste javascript code that masks the URL and prevent it from being shown in the status bar.

There are a lot of javascript codes out there that are free

if you are using datafeeds and want to do them in mass and .htaccess is not working use smipurl.com they can do thousands at a time. now I am not sure what google does when they see snipurl.com/sdf I do think that should be ok though
