I'm starting to use Sitescout for some media buying campaigns, and I saw in the help section: "request demo of our adserver for advertisers".

Now I thought since Sitescout's RTB platform serves ads, it was an adserver.

I'm a bit confused as to what an adserver is. Please help?

Same thing basicslly as rtb sitescout just that you can place your tags on your own buys and negotiate your own terms with publishers

Thanks.

So it's like, if I wanted to go direct instead, I would install an adserver on my server to serve the ads, instead of sitescout or other self serve platform, creating my own management platform to serve ads direct.

An adserver allows you to choose yourself what banners you want to show, you can optimise based on performance, run different ads for different demographics.

The Sitescout Adserver is a minimum $500 per month and has a sliding scale on pricing based on the number of impressions you serve up.

As you mentioned the word "starting" I would master some other things before worrying too much about having a dedicated ad server.

Normally, an ad server should come when you need adops people to help run your campaigns.
