What Do You Look for First in an Affiliate Program?

What's your primary consideration when you weigh up whether to promote an affiliate program or not?

I first look at the amount of money that I will be receiving and then at what action is required i.e. Lead/Sale/PPC.

But the amount of money depends on so many factors.

A $2 commission converting at 100% would be better than a $100 commission converting at 1% for the same amount of traffic. (for example)

Do you try to take into account conversion rates?

I do take a look at it, but conversion rate isn't my main factor. I think it is too much of a wild card. I figure that low conversions could be due to anything. Perhaps the program with high conversions has affiliates who are better at preselling.

The two main ones for me are commission rate and if they have a datafeed. I like to be able to customize and integrate their products into my site instead of just tossing a banner up, and I can do this better witha datafeed.
