what do I earn from a click?

I’m trying to get my head around the whole KW business. I entered a keyword into the adsense tool and then selected to display results based on CPC cost estimate and position.

If “blue widgets” shows up with a CPC value of 2,50$ this means that an advertiser is willing to pay that amount for a to get a click, correct?

So, if I then make a blue widgets website his ads would show on my pages, correct? Now, what share of that 2,50$ would be coming my way? I realize nobody can probably say exactly how much, but is it likely to be 20 – 50 – 70% of that?

No one knows for sure. In one NY Times article, they said google takes 20%, other people say google takes 75%. Bad part is, Adsense also has smart pricing, which usually hurts you, the publisher more as well.

Finally, only the top ad in your ad units that you display will have the "blue widget" as 2.50$. If someone clicks one of the lower ads, it may only be 1.50$ or 0.50$.
