What do before starting a blog?

Hi I searched around and found about a couple of threads but not exactly what iam looking for, iam looking for a thread that explains what should i do before starting a blog(how to find a good niche, how to do the keyword research before starting the blog) any advice from you guys would be useful..

well to start learning more about AM i knw that i might fail but if i dont fail i will never learn anything so iam using the blog as a start to something that one day will be EPIC hopefully with alot of work and your advice

What are you skills so far? Do you even know how to setup a blog? If not, learn that first. Then write, write and write some more and put it on your blog. This won't earn you any money, but if you cannot do this you've no chance at the rest.

Next, get links... I'm assuming you have no money so you would start by using article marketing and "web 2.0" properties to get links (tumblr, scribd, blogger, hubpages, squidoo etc etc etc).

Obviously there is more to it than that but if you got told everything you needed to do now your brain would explode.
