What do affiliates not like?

First, let me say that I have a terrific affiliate network. I can't ask them this question directly, since I use ClickBank and I can't get a contact list of who my affiliates are.

They other day, I tried out Google Adwords and Facebook ads. I pumped a few hundred dollars into the ad networks and received a few sales (it was definitely worth the money), but I noticed that my affiliate sales dropped off significantly. I don't think that ad traffic was the same demographic as the affiliate demographic, especially on the facebook side.

For the affiliates out there, what are your thoughts regarding your vendor also trying to sell the product through ad networks? Do you think this is wrong for the vendor to do?

Any other thoughts on what vendors do to affiliates that piss affiliates off?

if the vendor isn't marketing their own stuff...most people would actually view that negatively

2 things that piss me off as an affiliate:

1) scrubbing

2) aff managers who harass me to run traffic to 'xx' offer, but disappear as soon as I have a valid question that needs answering

The cost/conversion is lower with affiliates or at least it was with my recent PPC campaign. I don't mind paying out to someone else, especially if they are doing the marketing for me.

If the cost is lower with affiliates then allow them to do it. You can use that time to be productive in other areas.

Paying what is owed and paying on time is everything... affiliates will take a hit in conversion if it means getting paid on time.

well that's not true for me, but getting paid on time definitely is everything.

in this industry if you are literally a few hours late with a payment then you are a total scam artist.

It's like second nature. But why do we do it? So here's where we get to the interesting part. On the surface an affiliate link may seem like a pretty simple thing.
