Does the color of your website really matter when trying to draw in customers for whatever product or service you are selling? I see that blue, gray and white seem to be some of the most common colors on company websites. I was just wondering if there is some psychological bearing on this aspect.

I do think that the psychological aspect of color comes into play, but I get the feeling that readability is an even bigger factor. Blue is a "Trustworthy" color, so lots of businesses prefer it.

You may want to test it out and see if your conversions, click throughs or whatever action you are desiring from the person are better with certain colors. Always better to test it than just guess at the results - you might be surprised!

I also agree that readability is important, but even with readabllity there are certain factors that may make a person more inclinced to take action.

Littlefeather has a good point. I noticed that my bounce rate sank by about 20% when I switched from a mostly-purple layout to a pastel blue and green one.

I'm testing this out myself, right now. My site's colors used to be purple/blue and the bounce rate was horrendous. Now it's mostly white with some green stuck in and I think things are getting a little better.
