Website Builder vs Wordpress

I don't plan on becoming rich through AM, but I do have an idea for a niche that does not have much competition. I work a full-time job, and would love to supplement my income by selling an e-book targeting that niche through a website.

I spent the past weekend trying out wordpress, and realized it would be fairly time consuming to get the hang of different themes and plug-ins in order to get the professional look I wanted.

I then tried a website builder (Jimdo.com to be specific), and realized I could get it to look exactly the way I want in a fraction of the time. The problem is that the majority of these website builders do not offer the ability to sell digital products.

Can anyone recommend me a legitimate website builder that has that functionality?

Also, why aren't website builders more popular? Is it the lack of SEO capability? Or is it because Wordpress just offers more customization to those who are skilled at it?

Thanks in advance!

You can pretty much tweak a Wordpress site to do anything you want. You are very much "in the box" when you use one of those website builders.

IMO, it is well worth it to get to know Wordpress, especially if you plan on promoting other products and building other sites in the future.

So you're saying the main advantage of Wordpress is the customization?

My site is fairly basic, and I think that it is unlikely that I will build other sites in the future which is why I experimented with a website builder.

I may just use the builder, register my ebook on clickbank and link the clickbank page on my site.

I'm just concerned that potential customers might find it a little sketchy. Selling a product direct from the website seems to look more professional.
Any thoughts on that?

Wordpress has far more customization that is true, but there are many more products made for Wordpress, that is the big advantage. So many Plugins and styles and professionals that know how to work on Wordpress, for this reason it is a far better option to select.
