Hey,

I'm going to be writing articles yada yada then posting em on web 2.0 sites like squidoo, hubpages etc etc.

This all in effort to get a backlink to my website. My question is, in order to get my backlink indexed to my site should I do anything else? Or are these sites spidered enough that there is no need?

Also, with that said, what about sites like ezine, and other article directories? Any thing I should do, or will the article get spidered and my backlink indexed?

Thanks!:music06:

Like dchuk said, ping, social bookmark and submitted their rss would be good.
You should do it with most of them but with ezinearticles your article is usually indexed the same day. :) (which is usually not the case with other web 2.0 properties)

What was that site like pingler that does lots of domains at once?

Also, there was a post somewhere on how you can simplify the process with scrapebox, to make sure all your new comments (or any other list of links) is indexed. How is that done again?

Sorry for being a n00b. What does it mean in SEO terms when you use one of these sites to ping a site? I know what pinging is but not in an SEO context. Thanks.

Pings get the crawlers to your site for indexing new stuff, and re-indexing old stuff you've updated.

Thanks. Are they safe to use?

The ping sites have a page that lists all of the pings they received in the last 5 minutes. Those sites get crawled ALL the time, so it should speed things up. You should really only ping your pages every time you make a change or post. I wouldn't ever do it more than once a day, mainly because it probably won't help you much anyways

Wow it worked. It picked up on the updates i made today and bumped me up a spot!! Do you just ping the domain or every page you want crawling?
