So I'm going on a week long vacation this summer, and I'm left wondering how to handle my sites that week. This'll be the first time I've left them sitting for an extended period since I started doing this full time.

For my Wordpress blogs I plan on writing content ahead of time and setting the date so that it publishes while I'm gone. Anyone have any other hints or tips?

For other sites are is there anything you can put on a cron job to automatically run?

Maybe also leave info with someone you trust as a "just in case"

I didn't know Wordpress could do that task, that's pretty cool.

I have a close friend that looks over my sites while I'm gone. I also build up content to auto release on a daily basis.

My laptop always comes with me too, in case of emergencies! :)

It depends on how long your vacation is?

Anyway to answer the question, why not take a laptop with you or use the computer that most hotels have in their lobby to just quickly check in and see that things are going ok. 5 minutes max a day or every second day should do it. I mean after all you are on vacation.

Yeah, I do plan on taking a laptop so that should help, but I don't want to spend very much time on it.

Actually one of my favorite features of Wordpress, makes life a lot easier sometimes.
