anyone here ever use "SERPs only" for keyword phrases
(keyword title research) for directory article marketing, instead of
using "keywood tools"?

maybe SERPs aren't the best method of determining
good keyword phrases, but something is better than nothing

if you've ever done this can you give me any pointers?

thanks!

(I gave up on "keyword tools" I just don't understand
them regardless of how many articles I've read about them
tools I've tried myself, and videos I've watched on them)

why you gave up the tools? what the hell dont you understand...all tools have the same goal, showing you how many searches the keyword or phrase has,and how big is your competition, some show you Ads that your competition advertise for these keywords.
if you can figure that or know what to do with it, than IM is not for you dude

when you see a thread like mine, rather than pull down your pants
and take a shit, go find something usefull you can do, you see I imagine
there are things you don't understand that I do, but if all we do is come out
with a remark like yours, we learn nothing

with age comes maturity, stupidity slowly leaves your body and brain,
looks like you might have a ways to go...frequently someone like you
says these things because people shit all over you.......

learn to deal with things
instead of pulling your head out of your pants, you'll have better
clarity........."get centered" you need "balance"

usabilityPro had a point, the tools all have the same purpose of making it much easier for you to see the data for the keywords. I personally use Market Samurai. Many on here use it, because it really doesn't get much easier to find the information on your niche.

It's pretty simple. You just plug in the keywords you want to start with, click on keyword research, grab some related keywords and then analyze them. You can see all kinds of good stuff like total competition to title analysis (ratio of sites with keywords in the body of the page versus having it in the meta title).

You don't get that by just searching with the search engines themselves.

Looking at the SERPs is a better way to gauge your competition IMO, but results pages don't tell you much about traffic volume.

I mean, I use KW tools to find where the traffic is and then check out the first page to see if I have the time/money/interest to rank for it.

I don't see how you could evaluate a KW just based on the SERPs --- unless you look at how many advertisers there are.

Techincally, you can manually slave away analyzing the SERPs by yourself, but who has time for that? KW tools expedite the process and makes it like 1000x more efficient.

thank you guys
very much for your constructive feedback
I really appreciate it

I'm specifically going to be writing articles
on various subject
and submitting them to article directories

if I attempt traditional KW searches,
is there any pointers you can give me
given I'm trying to rank an article, not a site ??

I'll be doing aff marketing using redirect links, and when
absolutely necessary creating a streamline
"simple blog" and having the link there, when direct
links aren't allowed

any advice in this vein would be greatly appreciated

Bot2go I can't
read your comments
because

all your sentences are
cut in half almost like
christopher walken talking

I think there's a forum
for people who don't use hard returns
I suggest you go look for it, and when you find it stick
around there for a while

I'm afraid if I write
in full sentences
I might start looking like that
guy in your avatar!
that would "scare anyone"

that's enough to scare anyone off of writing
in complete sentences

but, seriously, what did you find so confusing about keyword tools that made you to stop using them?

Using SERPs listings to determine whether a given keyword will do well in the SERPs is like trying to predict who will become the next president of the United States by looking at the hairstyles of the current leader and nine of his predecessors - you're completely ignoring things like backlinks (votes), domain age (reputation) or a gazillion other factors.

Keyword tools try their best to estimate the number of searches for given keyword phrases, while SERPs listings are the result of (now increasingly extraordinarily complex) search engine algorithms responding to a search input. I don't understand how one can replace the other.

He didn't find
any of the tools
confusing

because he's
obviously
a troll.

(Or possibly half-retarded)

you just wish you could
type in half sentences
I see why half retarded would come to mind
when I saw you av, the same thing came to my mind
