I am building a one page e-commerce website. Can't seem to find the right VPS to host it, though. Any suggestions?

What are you looking for in regards to managed, and what type of e-commerce software. I don't know of too many managed VPS providers that are 'ultra small'. But I do have a dedicated server that I could create a small nginx VPS off of (nginx is a very lightweight and fast webserver compared to apache). Just a matter of what kind of managed support you'd need and if you'd need email or a control panel on it. (course anything less than 384MB rams you can forget bout using Cpanel/WHM/Directadmin on that and none of those control panels support nginx or lighttpd).

When it comes to a VPS, RAM is a much higher commodity than space, meaning between two 256MB slices, the amount of storage being smaller won't save you much coin.

Shit. Kblessingrr - some of that is completely new information to me. Thanks for sharing. I was looking for a small host that could support a small e-commerce website and that provided a control panel, email, and support that would take care of setup and security. The details are still a tad bit shady about what type of e-commerce software I will be using. I plan on using a light-weight 3rd party solution initially (Paypal), but move into something custom if the site takes off. Traffic would be moderate - I would wager around 1,000 visitors a day.

And was that an offer to buy a VPS from you? ;)

I only really offer VPSes on a case-by-case basis, since I don't advertise myself as a hosting company. On my own server I'm quite literally a one-man-show using a dedicated server setup with SolusVm/OpenVz to create VPS packages off it. Most of my clients are those who I've done coding for that eventually switched over to hosting with me since I just manage their sites as they need it.

Far as a control panel, the only one I would be able to offer is DirectAdmin. I don't want to touch Cpanel/Whm (its more of a resource hog anyways). And course Directadmin handles the basic stuff like apache, emails, domains, dns and so forth.

Your traffic doesn't sound like much. If you still wanted to go the DirectAdmin route, you'd have one of two choices:

Get an account on my shared DirectAdmin VPS with the required amount of bandwidth and space.

Or

Get a DirectAdmin VPS of your own, at 384MB ram (Though I would really recommend 512MB any time you use a control panel), which would also give you access to the SolusVM panel for it, but I wouldn't recommend touching anything if you don't have experience managing a server.

I don't know your budget, but if you want to talk it over, especially if you need me to help you manage installation and setup, shoot me a private message and either I can offer you something, or I can recommend like 3 other hosting providers that would be good.
