This shit makes me want to stock pile guns.

Don't forget this all supported by Obama / Kerry / Nato. This is a result of them voting to become independent of ukraine. They formed the Peoples Republic of Donetsk, immediately after they voted and won the Ukrainian military began attacking them.

What do you guys think the US would do if a state voted to become its own free nation?

Remember there was little to no killing until the .gov started attacking.

You clearly do not understand the region and how Russians operate.
I suggest you to research how 'not rigged' the voting was,
many papers with the 'yes' were seized a day before the voting.

I'm aware of that. Who placed the papers? Did the gov? The current one is corrupt as fuck, good chance they placed those to discredit the vote... It can go either way.

You obviously buy into any propaganda you hear.

Where do you live, in Kiev? :thefinger:

East and West Ukraine are fundamentally different. Wondering why a place like Crimea would vote to joint Russia is like asking why so many black people voted for Obama.

Its a shame people have to die.

I haven't seen anything in the western media about the Odessa massacre or the recent full scale military attacks.

I would imagine if the prior president used Jets and Tanks on the people. There would have been more of an outcry in the western media.

I still think the events in Ukraine have nothing to do with Ukraine. Its an indirect way to engage Russia. From what I hear; Brics are trying to dump the petro dollar.

And we all saw what happened to Libya and Iraq.

what i'm saying is that the vote is a play of outer forces, and has little to do with local folks

Crimea is fundamentally different from Slovyansk and Donetsk.
In the latter there is way less genuine support for independence from Ukraine.

Maybe I dont know for sure.

Its really hard to gauge anything with the way media works. But the fact that there is pretty much no media coverage of this leads me to believe otherwise.

I was born in Russia but all my friends are Ukrainian here in the states. I really do feel we have a lot in common; probably more then say a guy from UK (My best friend is from Donetsk and speaks nothing but Russian he agrees with me that they should be able to federalize). I love them to death but half of them are turning on me. I pretty much stopped talking politics on facebook now for the sake of our friendship.

This can be compared to Muslims occupying Cambridge, for example, and forming it as a muslim state. What would be your course of action as defender?

My grandparents and parents have lived through the WWII, occupation years when our country was occupied by soviets. A large portion of Russians were settled and even today some parts of country consists highly of Russians. So Putin can apply this "protecting ethnic Russians from Baltic nazis" card also here and send in separatists.

I could continue but you clearly have been affected by pure Russian propaganda - RT channel is very well known for it.

You can speculate about the west pulling strings, etc., but I know what my action would be if someone tried to divide and occupy. For others who haven't seen autocracies and regime it is simply not possible to grasp nor really judge.

I read all sides of the media, including KP and Fakty, ect... RT was just the link I posted. I don't just use someone elses opinion. I form my own.

They were mobs with sticks until the military burned all those people in that building.

Did you read about rebels using civilians as human shields?

Lol - russian terrorists occupy a kindergarten, army hits them there. Imagine that!

This propaganda piece is pretty shitty, yet I see still there are people willing to eat shit. Good luck, US-dwelling Russia-lovers, it's tough but you'll probably make it.

I'm not sure who's eating Shit.

Last time I checked a Million Iraqis died because they had weapons of mass destruction.

For those of you who don't know what the Petro Dollar is try this.

This is so typical. No one is talking about Iraq, Kosovo, Rwanda or Zimbabwe, so you may keep that for your support group meeting. It's about Russian aggression in Ukraine happening here and now in reality, not in some pseudo-intellectual geopolitics exercises. This is how this war is fought - small groups breaking through the border, 'proper' media coverage plus the help of useful idiots like you who are stuck in the USSR mentally. Add to that complete denial of russian leadership - because they are scared shitless of the economic isolation and sanctions, but they still feel the need to shake the ukrainian boat.

Do not worry, the Ukrainian army seems to be on it after the elections and soon all the russian troops will be shot and identified, and all the chechen thugs will be back to dance in Moscow squares.

These look familiar btw? Some Kadyrov buddies that were cutting russians just a decade and a half ago now "saving slavic brothers" in Ukraine?

And this is the level of the russian media: a faked report from supposedly ukrainian electoral committee website with 37% for the neo-nazi candidate Yarosh, shown on TV prime-time:

In reality he got 1.9%, but russian TV needs to feed the population shit, and keep it in fear, amirite.

All possible limits of reason have been crossed by .ru media and public discourse in general. Future of that country is gloomy, but then again it's present and past are not bright either.

What Economic isolation are you talking about. If Euro countries dump Russian gas energy prices will go through the roof.

Russia And China Sign Gas Pipeline Megadeal - Business Insider

Russian and China are trying to dump the dollar. As the Brics. You still think this has something to with Ukraine.

What were watching is foreign policy calculus.

Living in America now and loving it. I say bring back Henry Kissinger.

I hope they will let me renew my green card or else I'll have to suffer under 12% tax rate and a bunch of fine pussy back in Russia.

Uhum, and the other way to cover that story would be "russia cornered to sign gas deal with china on unclear terms, but we know that china will be building a new pipeline branch and plans of siberia colonization were first voiced. Oh and Russia gave them two islands right after that."

I don't 'think' it has something to do with .ua, this thread IS about events in UA. Switching the subject to global politics only means that YOU want to skip the fact of russian aggression & all these useless deaths out of spotlight, because, erm, oil, iraq!

Legitimate question: as a US taxpayer and resident, what exactly is your profit in the "mighty russia kills doller!" scenario that you are dreamingly constructing?
