Transition from Aff Network to my own program

For the past few months I've been using 2 aff networks to promote my offer, a single-product sale campaign. I've been using a small network that has a lot of incent traffic, and CPAWay. The mostly incent network has driven more traffic to my site than CPAWay, which has given me a grand total of 0 leads. Now as they keep explaining to me, and it makes sense, my offer is very niche and perhaps the right publishers just haven't picked it up yet. I'm beginning to think they just don't have the right publishers. This month, I've had 2 (2!!) clicks on my LP. And all of this is after I prepaid $2,000 (fully refundable, but annoying that they've been sitting on that money when I could've used it for something more worthwhile).

So, to the point, I'm planning on ditching them and running this on my own. I'm planning on using EJunkie's aff program interface because it's cheap and seems pretty easy to setup. My main concern is finding affiliates. From what I've gathered, posting on WF asking for affiliates is forbidden, so I'm wondering how to seek out and or attract the right affiliates for a niche offer like mine. Is there anything else I need to know when setting up my own program? Any advice/input is appreciated.

Thanks guys!
Reid

Just based on a few of the things I heard you say, it sounds like you have a ton of overall affiliate marketing "reading" to do and a TON of market research/split testing to do on your offer.

Split test different networks, but don't try and do this yourself.

What he said...

Yeah you're running with the wrong network. If you go into their platform and compare offer payouts, to some of the better networks, they're paying out half as much, literally! Even if you have an exclusive offer nobody would give a shit to notice because the payouts are shit and the net30 pay is even lamer. You ain't gonna find any super affiliates there!

Thanks for the input, guys. I'm assuming Clickbooth and Shareasale would be where to find the super affiliates. I don't really like Clickbooth, there process is too mechanized and the manager I used last time wasn't very helpful.

I suppose I'll give them another try. Whatever it takes to find the elusive super affiliates...

If I were you I'd try going somewhere they have weekly payouts like peerfly, maxbounty, cpatank, ewa etc.. You'll have more people willing to give it a try. Plus if you go somewhere like clickbooth you're going to be a trout swimming next to whales. Question... Have you ever had success selling the product yourself?

What's the campaign page and affiliate payout? Also, what's required of the surfer to generate a paid lead? I'll let you know if I think it's workable or not. I field about 100 advertiser pitches a day so I can likely let you know why you're not seeing results.

Heh heh, JP we've been talking on email, didn't realize you were on this board. Mine was the water bottle campaign, you recommended I use Shareasale.

if you are going to be exclusive to any network... you aren't putting down a dime if you have a good offer.

CPAway is a pretty good network- Ask them about their new incent platform if thats what your looking for.

Are you taking incent traffic and CC numnbers at the same time? If so kill yourself right now.

Yes, the CPA rate of $5 for a sale was just too low for any CPA network to seriously consider. $5 out of a $15 sale isn't a bad payout ratio, it's just too low to get any attention in the CPA world. CPA networks work mostly in lead gen but will run some sales (trial offers, as seen on TV, etc). Straight sales on low cost products with an even lower payout though... just not the right fit for any CPA network.

I'm not even sure your program is good for any affiliate marketing, but if it's going to work anywhere, shareasale is the right place for a you. They have shopping comparison affiliates that might run your offer, coupon affiliates, etc. Outside of affiliate marketing, getting on Amazon's marketplace might generate results for you.

Thanks, guys, much appreciated. And no Juijitsu, I'm using Paypal, and have only had 1 or 2 fraud leads. I'm selling on AMZN Marketplace and eBay.

My AM at CPAWay said he'd try to get my offer on their incent network, that was about 3 weeks ago and I don't think he ever did it. I guess CPAWay just isn't the right fit. Funny story: My CPAWay AM has a link to his Facebook page on the CPAWay website. On FB he's a member of a group called, "If my customers knew what I was thinking, I wouldn't have a job..." I know affiliate marketing is a "laid-back" industry, but I'm not sure that's the message you want to send...

So, I checked out the list of merchants on Shareasale, most of them are sites with a large storefront. I had written out this really long question, but as I typed it out I think I answered my own question. I'm only offering 2 items with a few color variations, so there's less items to promote and the max amount on a sale is smaller. But my commission rate would be higher than my closest competitors (they're around 5-8%, I would be around 15-20%). I think the affiliate would choose mine in most cases, but will the disparity in products offered make a big difference?

We are very experienced in the incentive part of this industry industry, and it's our main niche. Shoot me a message and let me know your product, we run soft incent mainly, but have a variety of different types of incentive traffic. I'll give you a real answer whether your product will work on incentive traffic or not. We have a small publisher base, but we keep it small on purpose, since we only try to work with quality incentive publishers.

Sometimes specific products just don't do well with incentive traffic, even if the "right" publishers are there. Either way I'll give you my best advice if you're looking for it.

thank you

Your first mistake is prolly running through a incentive network. Is the offer even suitable to run on such traffic? i suggest you try more CPS related networks like SAS or TD or CJ.
