Transferring Domain - How to Move Email Address?

Currently I have an old shared hosting account. Months ago I upgraded to a VPS, but it's through a different company. With the domain on the shared hosting, I actively use the email address on the domain.

I'm looking to migrate the domain to the VPS, and cancel the shared hosting.

I'm wondering if there might be any complications w/ transferring the domain to VPS, in terms of the email address.

I'm okay with a little downtime while the domain transfers over, but don't want to lose any important files.

Is there a way to ensure my current emails will stay alive? Do I need to re-create the same email address name in the VPS?

Both use cPanel, and both are in the USA.

I believe there will be no complications as long as it is from the same domain name.

Around d 4-5 months ago i did transfer from hostagtor to godaddy, though its not a VPS i think its the same process and what i did was backup all my files on my email through outlook before the initiated transfer, though i am using outlook since I started the site (for multi site emails), suggest you backit up first, sync the files though outlook or any close personal/business desktop programs out there
