Thinking of selling my Hofner verythin Standard and spending a little more for an upgrade.

Looking for a semi-hollow artchtop type guitar. I play rock, blues, jamband, some jazz, so need something versatile.

Not looking to buy a fender or gibson, something a little more customish...

I can spend about $1500-$1800.

Thinking of getting an Eastman Del Rey ER2 or the ER3, anyone ever play one?

Any other recommendations?

I bought a new Jackson flying V a few weeks ago. It looks and plays great, but it's a bitch to string/tune, and you need to get used to the body.

^^

You're one lucky dawg! The Ibanez Iceman is a stunner... Am gonna start learning guitar from next week on. Any tips for a newb ?

P.S - Not new to music, I play the keyboard, operate on my synthesizer and work with FL Studio et al to create music.

Yeah I think the Iceman is the hottest looking guitar ever designed. :)
IMHO, Strats, Teles, and L.Pauls are so cookie-cutter and it seems mandatory that every band owns one.

Damn, the Silvertone looks brutal. What type of music do you play?
The Silvertone owns. :)
I play with a drummer friend of mine, and we mostly play 70s / 80s hard rock and metal. Kiss, Motley Crue, Iron Maiden, Wasp, pre-1990 Metallica, and lots of improvized stuff, lol. We have a 18-track mixer we use for recording. I just ordered myself a bass-guitar recently as well. Always wanted to try the bass..

What do you play?

Oh and btw, to the OP: I can actually recommend building your own guitar too. You get exactly what you want.
I'm in the middle of building one right now. It's a great hobby and has tought me a lot more about these instruments and not to mention - given me some 1337 router tool skillz. :D

I only started playing a few weeks ago, I can play pretty much eveything by Rammstein so far. :D But their stuff is piss easy so it's hardly an achievement. I'm a big Burzum fan (I'm sure you know about Varg) - I'll be going for that next. My goal is to be able to play Cannibal Corpse and Children of Bodom tunes by the end of the year.

I don't play guitar, but I still think that megadeth's "into the lungs of hell" is one insanely great 80s metal song.
