looking for webdev guy with a vision... site is coming together, functional, but needs to be "tightened up" check it out sexykats.com - feel free to critique. positive or negative, i can take it!

i have been through three webdev guys, so i am learning to be more selective.:anon.sml:

thanks.

What's the hook? What makes this site stand out? Any cool features that myspace/facebook/hotornot doesn't have? Are you targeting a specific niche?

As it is now, I don't see this site going anywhere. You need to do some serious brainstorming and produce something innovative.

Good Luck!

i told my webdev guys to take down the flash already. it shows in my stats and since we all have the attention span of two year olds and the fact that not everyone has a lightning fast connection some people leave b4 it loads.

i just added a bunch of .gifs to the forum. i may switch everything over to jumango. women are less likely to post on a site that starts with the word SEX. my niche is pop culture. i have along ways to go, but, whatever, this is my hobby! not my bread and butter just yet. i understand basic HTML coding and principles.

i will be learning PHP this weekend so I am not a complete tard!

how do you add adsense to the forum pages? any hints would be appreciated. thanks.

If you are going to completely learn php in a weekend then you certainly are not a 'tard!

Site looks ok - very pink though!!

Flash intro is not needed - at least kill the sound. (Pet hate of mine, sound on sites when I don't ask for it - I know I'm not alone in playing music when surfing, sound on sites gets annoying!)

I think some of your 'sexy links' are possibly going to put people off. I don't know what their image is like where you are, but Ben Sherman is associated with a certain group of people here (chavs - google it :p) and recommending them may put off a lot of people.

I think you should leave it to your users to decide what's cool and what's not - if the links were based on some sort of voting/popularity thing it could be a good feature and possibly make you stand out from the rest.

I'd also suggest maybe leaving the forum until the site is busier. It seems a bit like top kat (you?) is doing all the talking!

Overall - apart from the excessive pinkness - I like the design. It could be a good site - but can you really take on Myspace etc? There doesn't seem to be anything to make it stand out from millions of other profile sites out there.

Hope you take this as constructive criticism. I'm not pretending to be an expert or anything, but as a general web user I feel I can offer this feedback. I'm also (very slowly) developing a sort of profile/social networking site thing (very different from yours - don't worry I won't be adding to your competition!) so I've spent time researching what makes some of these sites work and others not. (I'm focussing on a killer feature for my site - which I'm not going to reveal! :p)

As with a lot of things, you've either got to do something new and different or do it better than your competition in order to do well. Good luck.
