I had read a small article some time ago about a guy who created The Million Dollar Homepage. I don't get exactly what he does to make his money. The page is just filled with little ads or banners. It shows something about pixels, but I don't really understand it. I tried to E-mail the guy, but of course I didn't get a response. Does anyone know what he is doing there?

If I took a wild guess, I would say he was selling ad space and charging by the pixel. If you have a URL or a reference to the article, that would help..

Well like I said, I read the article a while ago. I only remembered the page because I was came across the name when I was on a blog. So I decided to ask about it, because I didn't understand it when I saw it. I have too much to learn before I can even try to make some real cash on the internet. Yikes!

There is a lot to learn and a lot to read. Posting questions in this newbie section, and using the search link near the top is a great start. Welcome to Internet Marketing, it's a long journey.

Thanks again Jake. I asked a question in another thread that was about newbies making money in like 3 months. I wanted to know if you needed to go to college or some special school to learn what I see people talking about here. Do they teach the steps to getting started and building a business online while in those kinds of classes? I need to meet someone in real life that can teach me or something. I know if I understood it, I'd be good because when I want something I go after it, but I need to know how first.

Most of us learn a lot more through self-study and practical experimentation than through structured classes. There are many courses etc that you can buy from online sellers, but most of them promise easy money unrealistically, "get rich quick" schemes that never really work out. You can learn a lot from those sources, but you will feel abused over time.. It's part of the learning process for everyone in this business, I think.

There are college courses, they can be helpful to a point, but it's fair to say you will learn the most through your own efforts and your failures and mistakes along the way.

You might be able to meet like-minded people in your area, through forums like this. Sometimes there are "meet-ups" organized in larger centers. Or the snake-oil vendors I mention above often have live seminars, you could attend those and meet people there. There are online webinars too..

This forum is a good resource, and there are others too. Don't worry if you get knocked around sometimes, people can be tough on those who ask basic questions sometimes. Keep learning, you get better every day.

Backlog, PayPal and Stats

Just a quick update: there is a 6,000 pixel backlog I'm working through now which should be cleared by the end of the day. There is also now a problem with PayPal: they've limited my account due to so much cash going through it (they probably think I'm an international drugs baron or something). So this sucks, because I currently can't receive any more money at this moment. It will take a couple of days to resolve at least, so right now I'm looking for a reputable alternative as we speak. I hope to have an alternative payment system by the end of the day.
In other news, the site's stats have gone through the roof, to the point where I don't actually know how many people are hitting the site (should get updated figures later today). However, I discovered something pretty amazing: I currently rank 4th on Alexa's list of 'Movers and Shakers' on the whole of the internet, just behind Apple, Chevrolet and NFL! I'm blown away.
Final thing: a lot of people reported slow access to the site yesterday, mainly on the homepage. This should now be much faster as the graphics are now part of one big image, instead of having loads of individual images.
Right, well I'm gonna have some lunch, gonna clear this backlog, sort out a payment system, and later on I want to make the big purchase: the new socks. I'll post a pic tonight or tommorrow. Brace yourselves!
