Saw a good article about the architectures of the biggest sites one the web which are porn sites. Just how big are porn sites? | ExtremeTech

From the article: YouPorn primary data store is Redis with MySQL used as an admin tool to manage and add data to the Redis cluster. They have 100TB of porn, serve over 100 million page views per day, and around 28 petabytes per month with peak transfer rates as high as 800Gbps. According to the article this single website accounts for 2% of the entire traffic on the internet in any given day...mind blowing.

I had porn site once ... with a few nude pictures ... used to get 40-200 uniques a day without any advertising/link building at all.

Even if you don't like the company, you have to give them respect. Definitely quite the accomplishment!
 
Just look at google keyword tool.
The sheer number of people going to youporn, redtube and pornhub via google search is mindboggling.. considering that a lot more that are just typing-in or using bookmarks..

With all the madness going on in the world, it's good to see some things never change
 
I remember that's why I got started with BBSes and gopher...a teen searching for horribly slow downloading, 16bit porn. Late tech adopters never give porn the credit it deserves in pushing innovation forward. Plus it is awesome.
