I've spent the last couple weeks trying to find a good wordpress review plugin. I tried the ones recommended in the WF threads. I don't mean to knock any of the dudes here who are marketing WP review plugins. I've tried wpreviewengine and have checkout out WFreview and wpreviewsite. They all do OK for certain stuff but didn't work for my purposes.

This one though is badass GD Star Rating|A WordPress Rating System GD star rating and it's 100% free. It's got so many ways to customize and implement, it uses less resources than the other ones, and the guy is putting out a new version almost every few days it seems.

He's also got another free plugin called wp press tools that helps with wp admin, DB maintenance, and your stats.

Hope this helps some folks out.

Here's some boobs too just in case that's not enough...

Just glancing through the features, I think WFReview has a leg up on this in terms of automatically generating content. Being able to import thousands of records and randomly generate ratings within a certain range and number FTW.

how does this compare to WPReviewEngine.com and WPReviewSite.com, feature wise?

it looks more like a rating / voting plugin...
All in all there are a ton more features with this and it is much more customizable, and uses far, far fewer resources.

Rating, voting, and reviews can be done with it. Out of the box it is setup for rating and voting but you can edit and make new templates within the interface so you can simply change one line of text and it works as a review plugin. He's adding new features all the time so it will probably eventually do other stuff.

They are different animals and do different things well. For sure wfreview and wpreviewengine allow you to make fake comments and ratings. I guess you'll want to use one of them if you need that. There are also a lot of file importer plugins available so you can get those separately if you need them.

Honestly gdstarrating has so many options that it can be confusing but they just came out with a new manual which is a lot better. All in all it has a lot more features and options but definitely not everything that every person might need. The other ones are good products too so it depends what your needs are. Plus, you can't beat that it's free too. It's just another option.

If you're too stupid to get a free copy of WFReview from me you're too fucking stupid to be in this biz!

Is that directed at me or just the world in general? I was probably going to get around to buying it because I think the auto rating comment thing is cool. Of course I'll take a free copy if you're passing them out.

I though you sold wfreview BTW?

Yeah I did fail on the b o o b s. I tried to correct it but like I said, it was moderated so it will probably show up in a few days.

BB_...: if a free copy of WFReview is available I would be glad to try it out and if you want get a review from me.

Man, seriously?

Edit: and by that I mean, are you advocating pirating it?

What's the difference really? When I owned it, WFers I knew well got it for free anyway. I gave damn near 50 copies away to WFers!

And I advocate pirating EVERYTHING. WFReview was pretty well copy protected. No known copies existed in the wild. If someone were to have cracked it, I would have not cared one bit.

Now where's the torrent for WP SmartTools? :cool2:

[It's flattering to see all the new 'best damn' plugins out now...]

*shrug* Do you have a planned release date for that premium placements plug?

No, HBZ Software is doing a version and I think between him and any copycats of his product that'll fill the need I have personally, so I'll likely not do the thing.

That and I realized that managing support of a plugin takes way too much time away from campaigns/new ideas and costs me a shitton in lost income, so I'll likely never do the plugin thing again. (that is until everyone is skinny, has white teeth, and has a crystal clear colon)

That sucks. I understand where you're coming from. But knowing you are behind a project gives me a lot of confidence, because I know you're going to release some awesome stuff, not a pile of shit. Ah well.

C'est la vie.
