Anal bleaching just doesn't convert like it used to

Same situation, less volume but shitty conversions...Need to warm them up a little, thinking of just collecting emails.

High volume search terms monetize worse because they are relatively un-targeted.

It sort of feels like a booby prize to rank for terms like this.

Make sure you have analytics working so you can track which of your long tails are actually backing out.

Posted for the benefit of others, Grindstone knows this.

One thing I've done on pages that are getting tons of traffic, but WAY too generalized, is to give them a "Choose Your Own Adventure" path.

For instance, let's say the search is HAIR LOSS

Well, who knows WTF kind of hair loss they have? Are they a girl? Where is the hair loss? Crown? Male Pattern? Are they doing stupid shit like steroids or eating bad?

You can sell different systems to each person, but need to get them into the right part of the funnel.

So move them around with <a name> style tags and images catering to each group, or send them to the totally separate subpages that are geared to those long tails. And collect data - huge market research. Who knows, maybe there's a crapload of women with hair loss and you didn't even realize it, and your site has nothing but dudes with balding crowns.

Your reader wants to be loved. Now go love them. Tenderly.
