I've seen the "Thanks" button over at other forums and thought it was a nice addition to help keep the thread a bit clean. If someone just wanted to say "Thanks," or "Thank you," then they can just hit the "T/Y" button and that's that. So when someone had a question or comment that was relevant to the original post, you wouldn't have to sift through all the "Thank you, I love you" posts.

Maybe even have a "PM Sent" button, I have yet to see that done by any forum. "PM Sent," "I sent you a PM," and so forth is not what I want to read when reading a thread. Why do I or anyone else care if the responding poster sent a PM? I mean, seriously, what purpose does it serve other than reminding  the OP that a PM was sent to him/her. Besides, aren't there already ways the OP is notified of a PM? I understand why some folks do it, to help bump the threads. But I've seen it too many times when you literally have to scroll for days until you come to a post that is a relevant comment/question.

Just thought I'd share.

I don't know why the fuck people make a post to say "pm sent". When the guy logs in, he gets a popup telling him he has a pm FFS. He doesn't need to come to the thread.

Unless it's for post count inflation, in which case no one will use a button.

And what will it do anyway? Send them another PM advising "PM sent!" ?

My point exactly :laughing-smiley-007. I see you have jokes. I forgot to mention, the other reason why folks do it - to merely increase post count on some forums that count them as informative and relevant posts. You beat me to it, DreamMachine.

Got it, thanks.

Shoot, couldn't edit my post to add this. Anyway, "PM Sent" was just a thought. Really it's not needed, nor is the "Thank you" button. There's a few forums that are cracking down on these kind of posts and are even banning folks who continue to break this rule after being warned. Maybe they can put something in the coding for post count excluding any post that is similar to "PM sent" as a post count. I'm sure less folks would put up these types of posts, too; especially, once they see they didn't get credit for the post haha. But maybe there are other reasons for allowing the posts. So that's that.

@OP - As yet, thank fuck, there is no "sharing" section where we can delight in the marvels of the latest Clickbank life-changer, which is "nothing like anything else, ever" and requires "no work", "no money" or no brain.

Therefore, there's not a steaming queue of shit waiting to get their grubby little lazy hands on this trash and thank the uploader with a post challenged by the most basic use of vowels to get their thank count up.

I'm not sure this forum requires the ability to display ones e-dick on any level and it's not as though the IQ of this forum is so low that it's rife with people only posting to ether get their count up or grow a bigger e-cock.

They'll still post that shit even if there are buttons.

Most of the "thanks ,,, for the informations" posts are bots or otherwise paid forum posters, and the "PM sent" posts are mainly service providers in S/B/T using sock puppets to bump their threads.

I hear where some of y'all are coming from, which makes me laugh a little because I've seen the very thing you speak. However, it can be controlled and with little effort.

If you want more rep and what not this video will help because this crazy cat got 8,000,000,000 rep points. He's like a legend around these parts.

At forums like MMD (Which I'm assuming you're referring to); you'll notice a pack mentality that ensues, particularly if the member has a lot of posts -- for the "thanks" feature. If you really want to say thanks, then hit the "rep" button and boost the persons reputation. I don't see a difference between the two, other than having a list of 20 people saying thanks for every mundane thing they post.

There are not many topics around here that doesn't include something about being gay. Personally, I don't give damn, it's just an observation.

Oh, please no circlejerk "thanks" buttons. You from WaFo?

We got a rep bar for that, and even though the algo might need rethinking, it is as good as this type of thing gets.
