I want to access a remote laptop and i can install whatever program i want on it. The only problem is i don't want anyone using that laptop to know when am accessing the laptop.

I understand if i setup teamviewer or vnc, they would know when am remotely connected to the laptop and accessing it? Coz i remember using this in my old company, where i can see what the support guys are doing on my machine when they are fixing the problem.

is there any other way to remote access the laptop or webcam on the laptop without the users knowledge? as i said i can install anything on that machine, so please recommend a software

lol not exactly, so you are saying if i access the machine, the user would know? its actually my work PC, and others work on that machine when am not there.

can't i just do a RDP?

Haha, the technical name is a RAT (Remote administration tool) but yep, a trojan is what you're looking for :p and with PoisonIvy or similar, the user wouldn't know, unless you tell them.

Not sure whether you can do an RDP, but this would be the easiest, most user-friendly method, with the most access. It could be easily removed by you, there's a simple button you can click in the client for the server to delete itself.

Depending on what you mean by 'access', might you be wanting
'remote file access' rather than a 'remote administration tool'?
If so...

I can't vouch for any of these services, but maybe something like:
Homepipe
LogMeIn Pro
MyGreenPC

It sounds like they allow you to surf the disk and transfer files without actually taking control
of the desktop/keyboard/mouse (although a couple seem to be able to do that too).

I'm not sure about this, but can't VNC/TightVNC allow you to surf the disk and transfer files without
actually having to take over the desktop/keyboard/mouse? The documentation isn't clear.

Never tried it, but isn't VPN something to do with this kind of networking?

Finally, might Microsoft Livesync or Dropbox be the easiest solution?

I'd be interested in hearing about any solutions you try, and which one you end up using.

If it's a windows PC then controlpanel->system->remoteadministration

turn that on

then make a note of the ip address of that PC, and in your own personal PC find Remote Desktop Connection in Accessories somewhere and enter the ip addres of the PC you want to connect to.

The remote PC will look like its been CTRL-ALT-DEL locked to your colleagues.

The only problem is if you need to get through via an internet connection with a Firewall. You'd need to speak to the Firewall admin to get this set up. And he would probably want you to tunnel RDP down an SSH tunnel (Cygwin on the remote machine)

Other than that its going to be one of the paid for services like PCAnywhere

Sounds to me (correct me if I'm wrong) like he wants to SPY on what his co-workers are doing on the box when he's not there... without them tricking to it ;)

guys i just figured out i can do a VPN to the machine. lol :D The reason why i wanted to check this is because i want to see who is screwing with my machine everyday at night :D

My way you can view it without taking control, you just have the option to take control as well.

Plus, with my way, if it's someone who's not meant to be on there, you can open up porn, make the disc tray open/close, shut it down, make it flash, dickroll them... the sky's the limit. :D

if it's *NIX, you can run a remote Xwin session via SSH and nobody will know. There are remote XWin clients just for this
