Hi All. I am outsourcing virtual assistants to the Philippines. It has been good but I have a concern.

Do I have to pay for withholding taxes of these people? They are considered as contractors and not my employees. I know in the US you can put the wages that you pay them as business expense and put it in the section C of form 1040. But, how can I do this in the UK? May I also ask about how can i do it if I'm in Germany or France. Coz i'm planning to move there in the future.

Let's compile a list of words in different languages that mean "accountant" and also "accountant lawyer referred me to." :)

Add in other words to understand if you want or need to.

You actually do your taxes yourself? I just put all my expenses in a folder, zip it up and send it to my accountant and let him figure out where everything goes.

When owing money to men with guns, it's best to consult a professional on such matters. Seriously, pay the few hundred bucks it would cost and talk to an accountant.
