I need a new system and would like something that will be able to max out battlefield 3 when it comes out in November. Currently I have:

P35 chipset mobo
Q6600 @ 3.2 Ghz on air
4 GB ram
8800 gtx oc'd

Which obviously is not gonna cut it.

I'm planning on something like:

P67 chipset mobo
i7 2600K (oc'd closed loop liquid cooled)
8 GB ram
2 GTX580's in SLI (oc'd on air)

Any comments or suggestions? I doubt LGA2011 (Socket R) will be worth the extra money, IF it even comes out by November. And X58 doesn't seem to be worth it. It gives you two full x16 PCI 2.0 lanes but again the difference wouldn't be noticeable. Two x8 lanes in SLI is enough, unless you're running three 30" monitors or something crazy. I plan to be using a single 24" P-IPS panel at 1920 x 1200.

233 mhz
256 mb ram
600 mb hard drive (3600 )
15" crt monitor (for insane Graphics)

should pretty much eat BF3 for dinner.

Or you could go with something like this

In all seriousness your specs look pretty decent

Forget the 580. Grab yourself a 590. SLI on one card.

Newegg.com - EVGA GTX 590 CLASSIFIED Limited Edition 3GB 768-bit GDDR5 PCI express 2.0 x16, 3xDual-Link DVI, DisplayPort, HDCP Ready, QUAD SLI Ready, PhysX, 3D Vision Surround Support Video Card

And ram is cheap as hell right now. Pick up at least 12 gigs of decent 1600 ram on sale. Corsair, OCZ, etc. Name brand, none of the generic stuff.

And if you're going to upgrade, do it right. Pick up a Mobo that will take a Vertex 3 SSD and make use of the higher transfer rates.

Newegg.com - OCZ Vertex 3 V3LT-25SAT3-240G.oem 2.5" 240GB SATA III - SSD

I've always had good luck with eVGA products. I went with x58. Enjoying it.

My current setup:
Q9550 @ 2.83GHz
GeForce GTX 260
4GB RAM
Asus P5Q Deluxe
OCZ Vertex 2 SSD

Hope it's gonna cut it :) BFBC2 runs great.
