Im starting to realise if have a bit of a fetish for reading about really successful people in the business world and their messed up/amazing lives. I just finished "howling at the moon" by Walter Yetnikoff, we was head of CBS in the 70s,80 and his life excessive to say the least and he was in charge of some of the biggest artists of that time from Michael Jackson to the Stones.

Also just read "CityBoy" by Geraint anderson who was this high flying stock broker in London making huge monies till it all came crashing down. I highly recommend both those books and also wanted to know if anyone can recommend anything in a similar vain.

Thanks C

I prefer working on my own success, rather then reading about others.

Just sayin'...

Well its not all success (especially in those two books) both became total egomaniacs addicted to drugs and hookers :) What i find most interesting is their rise to the top from nothing, i suppose there is an aspect of wishing it was myself but i dont think that neccesarly ditracts from it.

You think the people you idolize in those books ever do the same? pretty sure they care about their passion. the more you study the lives of others the further you move from your own success.

then again, maybe i'm crazy.

Reading and learning from successful people, either doing what they do or avoiding their mistakes, is working on your own success. I like to read about successful business people since we share the same passion, or sports stars since most are leaders on the field and off. I found both of Tony Dungy's leadership books to be inspirational.

Yeah, same... not sure about "fetish" lol but who we spend our time with and what we read is essentially what shapes us.

First... read "Surviving at the Top" by Trump.

All of his books are good but I think you'll like this one especially because it goes along the lines of the drama I think you might be looking for. Generally speaking, his earlier books are where he shares a lot more personal details. Trump is very candid, to say the least.

You might also enjoy "The Operator" by Tom King which is about David Geffen, Hollywood's first billionaire. Not written by David Geffen but lots of details and great stories about the industry and the major players.
