I'll Stab you!
I have godaddy hosting. I have a INDEX.html page. I want to be able to type anything.DOMAIN.com and have it resolve to index.html but still keep anything.DOMAIN.com in the address bar. I would also like people to type folders such as domain.com/anythinghere/whatever.htm resolve to index.html but still keep domain.com/anythinghere/whatever/htm in the address bar.

I tried searching google but everything I found involves the address bar switching too.

You'll need the ability to customize .htaccess (specifically, mod-rewrite) on the server, and wildcard DNS for your dns entry. That way, all requests will come to your root sitefolder regardless of their subdomain specification.

If you always need it to go to index.html, then this would be easy to set up. With modrewrite, you could even have............

cats.mydomain.com/ilikeKitties/aLot

.......route to........

www.mydomain.com/index.php?sub=cats&path=ilikeKitties&page=aLot

.....for easy parsing within a script.

I can't get wildcardDNS to work with godaddy. I read that you can do it if you pay the extra 2.99 a month for a static domain. I paid the money and still no avail. Anyone?

*.54.54.54.54 was the syntax i tried with the ip being my REAL ip.
