stupid question

I'm moderating a forum site out of the goodness of my heart, and one of the more persistent spammers is posting links to this site: Knoxville tennessee real estate

I've looked at the source and all the links are internal links, unless I'm missing something. Obviously there's a point I'm missing here; I don't get what the point of posting obviously spammy links to a markov generated site.

What's the point? What am I missing?

Anyhow, he's deep linking to get content pages to rank. Although, after looking at the site, I'm not sure what he want's to rank for: gloryholes or Knoxville Real Estate.....
