If I wanted to take advantage of type in traffic for a specific keywords does the order of the words matter? Here's an example, fordmustang.com and let's say I bought mustangford.com, would this give me any kind of reasonable traffic?

If your targeting typo's so that you do not miss any traffic then yes it will pitch in with a few hits per day but i doubt if it would help you in long term.

Obviously the more common phrase will get more type-ins. Ford Mustang is more commonly said, branded, if you will, where Mustang Ford seems like more of a search term "Hey I want a mustang by ford"

homeloan.com would get more type in than loanhome.com and so on.

That's not a typo domain (mustangford.com) - if the words are still spelled correctly but out of order, you'd be better off developing something on it. If it's a true typo-domain, throw up an optimized parked page. Depending on the typo, you can get some decent traffic. I registered "atarwars.com" (typo for starwars.com) and I get only like 10 hits/week on it.

Best idea is to register it, test it for three days and if the doesn't get any traffic, delete it on the fourth day and get your money back (minus some processing fee).
