Just curious cos I know you guys probably have a shitload of miles like I do. I actually haven't used any of my points for flight though, only because I've heard that the type of flights offered are crap (i.e. multiple connections, blackout periods etc), so I just redeem stuff instead.

This week I just redeemed:
1. PS3 with Move (shouldn't have purchased this but the kids will enjoy it)
2. Tumi Vapor International Carry On
3. Kitchen Aid Toaster (we've had the same piece of crap since before we were married)
4. Some learning game for my kids
5. $500 Pottery Barn gift card

Was gonna rig up a new DeWalt drill but I gotta leave something for my Xmas list :) Also thinking about getting some Mont Blanc cufflinks but haven't decided yet. Obviously I don't buy anything that can be expensed (i.e. laptops, phones etc), so it kinda makes it hard to decide on what to get. I always get stuff I don't need cos it's fun. Got about $3K more worth of stuff to redeem but don't really need anything.

So has anyone else slurged with their points lately?

Amazon:

58" Plasma TV
HK 5.1 Speaker System
Wii, controllers, tons of games
Xbox 360, controllers, games
Z-Bar LED Lamp (baaaaaaallin')
Jack3d
Too much other random stuff to list

A shitload of Macy's, Saks, Crate & Barrel, Target GCs. Still have a couple thousand in the Amazon account and like hundreds of thousands in unspent points. Wheeeeeee.

Oh, and a bunch of airline tickets.

If they are Amex points, you get the most bang for your buck on Travel, use it to buy travel vouchers (usually a better deal than directly booking the flights, but not always, research first) for the airlines that go to the places you're most likely to want to go in the next 12 months.

unfortunately i can only redeem my miles for a ticket and hotels. did a lot of travel for free till date

i prolly need a amex now

Booya.

I think miles are best redeemed for travel tbh :p 110k with BA is a 7k F flight or 70k for 3k J flight internationally.

UK Amex is 1gbp for 2 points.

i redeemed all of mine for home depot gift cards ( do like $6k worth at a time ) and then I use the cards to do things like landscaping, redo the deck, appliances ( washer and dryer, etc ), etc. Figure I take the money and reinvest it into my home at least so that its like free upgrades to the home and makes it more valuable.

I've also given these out as Christmas gifts ( yeah I know... ) and traded them for work with the local contractors too.

my macbook pro, massage credits at a spa, oh and flew harrisons whole family to europe after he bought the points off me.

If you use Cap1, the best redemption by far is gift cards. So far, got a new laptop and desktop, some running shoes, a dozen video games, my kindle, and some books.

I'd rather not spend foreva ebaying them, but I'm running out of shit to buy on amazon that I want.
