(Okay.. i've posted this in the newbie forum, with the newbie alert tag and I am, indeed, a newbie... so hopefully thats as flame-retardant as I can hope for...)

When pursuing a new campaign or niche, what "type" of site would the more seasoned marketeers be inclined to go with?

For example, if your niche was "Pregnant Women" - would you....

a) Create a content-based website at pregnant-women.com and create a variety of sections to the site, each based around different pregnancy-related topics, and each promoting different offers. For example, if you were running it as a blog, you may have a post about the merit of breast milk vs formula, stuffed with promotion for and links to breast pumps.

b) Identify "divisions" of this niche, such as breast pumps, maternity pants, pushchairs etc - pull offers for each, and set up seperate single-page/landing page websites for each offer.

So basically, one website on a broad topic encompassing several offers; or several websites each based on a single offer?

Additionally, if you went with option "a", would your PPC campaigns be directed to the site as a whole, or to specific sections based on which offer you want to promote?

I realize for many that this may just a painting-by-numbers issue; that the approach depends on the niche; and that experimentation is probably the best way to determine the optimal method to use; but I was just curious as to what peoples initial thoughts are when starting out on a new market.

The first choice, open content-based website. Why? Well, I prefer contend based websites. But that's just me. I'm into blogs, and not so familiar with other choice...

I would do B because the people you target are not the ones interested in finding info on the niche. They are the ones that want to buy something from you. Why throw so much content at them? Just make a page that targets the offer and promote it.

sure you need to throw in SOME content to make your site look legit, but nothing like huge articles and multi page resources.

maby start with a blog when you see that your niche works start building a website.

I would go with option a When doing Google PPC, having landing pages that are part of content site looks good to Google. The more content, the better. Just make sure the landing pages from your ads point to the specific product page on the site, not just the front page.

I would go with b. I find people often get confused and overwhelmed with a bunch of different stuff, and many times, just click away. But if you are promoting just a product or two, they have a better chance of buying something because there is focus on that product. Less is more. :costumed-smiley-013
