Hey Guys,

StarCraft is a game that has been out for a long time now. They are making a StarCraft II now so the hyps is back and people are going crazy.
I am looking to sell these four StarCraft domains as I do not have any time right now to develop them.

STARCRAFTSUPPORT.COM
STARCRAFTHINTS.COM
STARCRAFTSITE.COM
STARCRAFTDOS.COM

$50 for all four.
Let me know.
Thanks,
Evan

They have been talking about new Starcraft games for ages. There was supposed to be Starcraft Ghost a FPS for consoles, never materialized...

I expect them to want to do this more than ghost. I think they are at least a year away from making this.

Ghost was in production for 4 years before it was indefinitely postponed!

Vaporfuckingware!

I know that is when I picked them up hoping to devlope them, but due to lack of time I am looking to sell them as a set.
Thanks,
Evan

copyright infringment on starcraft?

Contact Blizzard and ask if you are concerned. If they say "No problem, develop your sites" then you're good to go.

I think most gaming companies are pretty lenient about that, because you are actually helping them increase brand awareness at no cost to them.

I read around the site a bit and it looks like they are cool with sites as long as they give due credit to the game and whatever information that they may use on the site.

So is anyone interested in these domains?

Thanks,
Evan

Just about every gaming company, that's big, offers fansite kits for their top games.

I was going to buy some of these about six months ago when I predicted starcraft 2 was coming...to much on the table right now.

Did some digging on Blizzard's site, here's what I found:
What is Blizzard Entertainment's® copyright / trademark policy for the Internet, specifically for fan sites? Can I use Blizzard Entertainment's® images, text or sound on my web page? Is it ok if I use screenshots I take in-game on my web page?
Yes, within certain limits. We asked our legal department to provide some guidelines for you, and here is what they said:
Blizzard Entertainment® hereby grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and non- assignable license to use and display, for home, noncommercial and personal use only, one copy of any material and/or software that you may download from this site, including, but not limited to, any files, codes, audio or images incorporated in or generated by the software (collectively the "Downloaded Content") provided, however, that you must include or maintain all copyright and other notices contained or associated with such Downloaded Content. You acknowledge and agree that you may not sublicense, assign or otherwise transfer this license or the Downloaded Content and that no title to the Downloaded Content has been or will be transferred to you from Blizzard Entertainment® or anyone else. You also agree that you will not alter, disassemble, decompile, reverse engineer or otherwise modify the Downloaded Content.
Also, we reserve the right to revoke this limited use license at any time, for any reason, and at the sole discretion of Blizzard Entertainment®. You may not use our materials on sites that feature defamatory pornographic, or inflammatory content, including, but not limited to, hacks and cheats for any of our games or any other content that Blizzard Entertainment® find objectionable or unlawful.
Are there any legal notices and disclaimers that I need to have on my site when talking about your products?
Yes. You must include all copyright, trademark and other notices as appropriate. Appropriate notices can be acquired from here.
Can I register a domain names containing some portion of your product names such as "star-craft.com" or "war-craft.com?"
Blizzard Entertainment® does not condone the use of our product names in other domain names. We are concerned that such use could cause confusion for our customers who may assume that the domain is associated with Blizzard Entertainment®.

So, apparently, they aren't too kosher with it. Bummer. I was actually really interested in the domains. :(

But I see these domains as not trying to steal traffic from them. As you can see in the top section it says that you are allowed to have "fan" sites and if that is what you keep them as and make mention on the site that it is a "fan" site I think you are fine.

Domains such as Starcraft2forum/s sold for $1000 and the person who bought them must not be to scared.

It's not about stealing traffic, it's about brand usage and confusing/misleading Blizzard's customers and/or potential customers. If somebody developed a site called StarcraftSupport.com, many people may go to the site thinking it was owned and operated by Blizzard. Blizzard, obviously, wouldn't want people thinking StarcraftSupport.com was in any way affiliated with them and any sort of small disclaimer on the site would likely not be enough.

Some domains with their IP in them would probably be ok, but StarcraftSupport seems like it'd be a huge red flag.

^^^
True, but why not put a big disclaimer at the top of each page?

Something like:

This is not an official Blizzard or Starcraft website. This is a fansite.

Hopefully that would make Blizzard happy. Hard to say though. For the price he's asking, I think it would be worth it to try anyhow.

Good luck to those who got it! I'm late as I would have got those!

Keep in mind to just email a company your plan. I own whatever.com and I can promote your company using the guidelines on your website I created the content and layout. All of which promote your items via my Amazon account.. DUH! Can you please reply with "Approved" in the subject line?

Or whatever you sell for them and the Google Ad's are whatever as long as they are happy .. eh!
