Hi I am a long time lurker... reading as much as possible before i ask dumb questions

I was wondering if you guys could check out my blogs and tell me if there is anything i can improve.

The first one is a Photoshop tutorial site which the click through rate is terrible... something like 1.08% mainly traffic from good-tutorials and pixel 2 life. http://www.asksabre.com (the site has a crap name i know ) currently earning about 1-3 dollars a day via adsense.

The second is http://www.datingguideonline.info which is not up and running yet but i have enough content for one article a day for a year. Is the layout ok etc?

And do you think i should scrap ad sense and put in affiliate links ?

Any help you guys can give would be heaps appreciated :D

I don't run blogs but...

My suggestion would be to add links in wikipedia in the external links section...tried and tested...it works...it will improve traffic to your site...

Hope it works

You might want to try integrating your adsense into the actual links to your tutorials. It'll keep your visitors on their toes.

Whered you pull these tutorials? Are you sure they arent duplicate content?

Id play with the top horizontal navigation font size. Make it a little smaller. Definitely make it bold.

And, in your CSS, make the size of the highlight box (mouseover on one of the top horiz navbar entries) a little smaller. When they are mouseovered, theres a little bit of overhang at the bottom. Also, make it a lighter color so it stands out more.

Make the 'Newest/Popular' something different. Decide if they are New or if they are Popular, not both. And make the spacing on both sides of the title even inside the darker shaded heading cell. Popular runs right up against the right side, its not centered. Thats the first headline your users will see and it will give a bad vibe if its misaligned.

Also, on the left side, bring your links up so theyre right under the dark headline bubbles then put a margin below them. Youve got space between your dark headline bubbles and your link lists below them... doesnt flow very nicely.

Play around with making your background gradients on your left side link lists a little darker. They seem too light and dont really do much on my monitor. And change them from the font they are in now, looks too standard. Try to match them to the font used in the Google link list at the top as I think that might be a good fit.

Make a solid border around the boxes down the center of the webpage where the tutorials are.

REMOVE THE ADMIN PANEL LINK AT THE BOTTOM! Thats bad design and inviting people to fuck with your admin panel to try to get in. (That is, unless its a member admin panel then it should be labeled 'Members' or something)

Dont forget to remove your fake comments.

Finally, click the first tutorial and scroll all the way down. Some of those elements seem mashed together (like where it says Skin Softening). Maybe add some margins there.

Good luck! :)

Changes look good, give the nav menu link lists just a little bit bigger margin at the bottom ;)

Oh yeah, vertically center the headlines in the middle in the light blue bubbles (ie 'Latest Photoshop Tutorials')

Hey man, thanks allot for your advice. Ive done most of it and there is still some little things to fix n ill get to that soon.

Your a legend thanks allot, anything else ?

It really gets to me how Firefox and ie don't look the same half the time... its such a fiddling fkn thing to fix all the little bugs.. heh

Thanks all for your replies, some words of wisdom from a newb lol... neatness in your coding... be NEAT and it will save you hours!

Lookin good parody! Real good.

The whole site looks a helluva lot better. Shit, Id use it. I see one last thing but your probably already on to it... the links at the bottom of the tutorial (for example, at the bottom of Aqua Water Effect, it says 'Skin Softening') need a little repositioning.

Other than that it turned out great. :) Best of luck.
