Background:
My partner is starting her own clothing line.

The Problem:
The .com version of the name is taken and the Whois details are private.
The website hasn't been developed and there is no parking page up.

The Question:
What options do I have towards acquiring the domain?
Is the GoDaddy backorder option any good?

You can email a privatewhois email and it will still forward to their real one.

Godaddy backorder is a bad idea. You're basically notifying them the domain's worth something and you'll probably find yourself in a position of having to bid for it.
