Social Networking Sites and New Panda Update

I've heard social networking sites are making huge impact on the newest Panda release. Wondering if anyone has any stories on it help/not helping their rankings? I can say I spammed my personal facebook, google+, twitter, and myspace accounts to see if I would notice anything. Amazingly within an hour I jumped from 32nd to 24th place for my keyword. Not sure if it was coincidence or really helped that much.

Any opinions?

Is there any way to track this? Does ahrefs.com or any other backlink searcher tool pick up links from sites such as Facebook/Twitter/Myspace?Google+? I spammed my girls account with the same site and didn't see any movement so I guess it was just a bad ass coincidence.
