Social Networking Script...

I need a social networking script. Something like myspace, where to profiles are customizable. How would I go about on creating one. I know a lil of PHP here and there. But IDK where to start.

Also, if I was to hire a programmer, how much would making a social networking script cost?

whats the difference between a script and an application?

the magnitude of the project. an application may consist of hundreds of scripts. one script may be to create a new user, another to send someone a message, etc.
