So I shouldn't buy a domain with porn backlinks, right?

There's a domain I'm interested in on GoDaddy auctions. It's a partial keyword match for a new niche I want to enter, is a .com, and is 8 years old.

But when I ran a backlink check on it, I found it has like 500 backlinks, and >90% of them are porn anchortexts, stuff that I can't type at work.

It's still indexed.

The URL has nothing to do with porn so I wonder if they just pissed someone off who spammed them or something?

Should I avoid it? It's not expensive and I would like an 8 year old .com but I don't want to start a new site and have it associated with porn keywords.

How much does that type of thing matter?

Was the domain used for adult material ?

Most of the cases of shitty adult links just means the domain was used to host and pump profiles/etc.

It would be a waste to drop a 8 year old domain like that.

You can buy the domain, place a unique common landing page and wait for the links to be de-indexed?

No, it was used for something totally unrelated to adult material. That's why I figure all the porn spam links were just someone trying to screw with the guy.

The site is still indexed. I ended up buying it only because I got it for a good price. I guess I'll use it as an experiment to see if adult links matter in this type of situation. Like an after the fact negative SEO thing

It's best to purchase a domain without any adult content/links but that is not always possible. However if the majority of the links are adult then it will definitely be a problem.
