Hi Guys,

I'd appreciate any feedback/advice from more experienced practitioners about my first arbitrage adsense site.

http://www.howtobuyjoesjeans.com

- Niche is on a brand of designer jeans that gets good search traffic and has a decent number of advertisers and bid prices

I am pushing traffic through 7search and searchfeed but numbers are quite low 50 views and no clicks. I saw Kyleirwins comment that with these smaller engines I am going to need a larger keyword list to get any traffic.

Would appreciate any comments re layout/ad placement etc. Have amended this post as i got no feedback previously.

thanks

http://www.howtobuyjoesjeans.com/styles/ I would make the pictures on that page clickable so that they go to a larger image.
I like the site in general, it does seem that there are a lot of ads on there tho. I would get rid of that metrics thing under the banner. Also you are getting public service ads on some of the pages, there is a way to turn them off, you could stick more content on there to get rid of the public ads.

I dont know if I totally agree with this. If you are going for a return user and a browse site then yes. But if your goal is just sheer ad's payouts then you dont want to many things distracting. I think a good idea since this is an arbitrage site is to go with a different all layout. Since you are dealing with a product based website such as jeans. I would go with the large rectangle ad box. Then next to it I would display small pics of jeans so it looks like product descriptions.

For example see here
I would change the pictures to those of different style jeans. Also I would address the ebay section. I think the dots are obtrustive to the eyes and need some work. Also, second that getting rid of the metric link why have that?

Yes you need to get rid of those service annoucement ad/s they just look horrible. On the content part you really dont need to have crazy amounts of contents. Remember this is an arbitrage site. You just need to make sure the content you have is good enough to generate the targeted ad's you want. I would also submit this thing to some of the stumbleupon type sites. This site I would think would appeal to some of there demographics.

I think you have a great idea just some info for some possible tweaks.

I second changing the dots around the ebay ads. Right now it looks like you just defined a dashed border around EVERY image in your CSS.
While I like the look of it overall, you might need to add a class to diefferentiate the ebay images.

For arbitrage you really need to be using a big 336x280 with images on it to get high ctrs. Whack one on top of your content on the right hand side...that should up your ctr a lot. If I were you, I would take away all images and just leave the ones near the ads. You want to attract the visitors eyes to the ads, and the ads only

OK Guys,

I have made the suggested changes:
- removed metrics/sitemeter in sidebar
- Edited template to get rid of "dots" around images (the wonder of wordpress) The ebay advert now looks more like it should
- Inserted a 336x280 adsense block avove the content and laid in some nice jeans images next to it
- Killed a bullshit page that wasn't doing anything

The only thing is how the hell do I get rid of those service announcements...Is'nt this dependent on relevant content? I guess if that keeps appearing I'll need to rejig the content a little to try to increase relevancy yes?

I have not removed the images on the Styles page although once I get sufficient traffic I may try this and make the comparison.

Thanks for the feedback guys, I will monitor this baby and report back with the results.

Now to get some cheap traffic....

The PSA's (public ads) are shown when there are not enough advertisers in your niche or if Google hasn't scanned your content yet. I would let it go for a couple of days and see if you start getting relevant ads. The last site I did it took 2 days. If you still keep getting PSA's add more content or cut down on the number of ads.

I just went to your site alright here is some more specific advice on the changes. First good job on the pics in the adsense 336x280 rectangle. However, I would mix some women stylesjeans with mens. You dont want to gender discrimate your potential clicks. They all seem to be women style unless that is what you are going for. I would say though why limit yourself. Also good job on the ebay it is looking much better now. Moving on to why you are still getting public service announcements. Your copy simply isnt good enough. For example on the styles page you have jeans mentioned just 4 times in the text. You need to be including it more in the text. Also make sure you diversify your copy to to display an array of ad's to different sectors. Hope this helps you are on the right track.
