so I sold a domain that I held at godaddy, how do I initiate the transfer to the buyer?
I've got his name, address, and email

You need to make sure your domain is not "locked" with GoDaddy first, then get the new owner to initiate his transfer with his/her registrar of choice. You will be contacted to authorize the transfer - then its out of your hands.

I think he means from his GD account to the buyers GD account?

If so,

1. Unlock the domain
2. Click on "Change Account" (located under 'Manage Domains').
3. Fill in the buyers' details in the "new registrant" fields, check the agreement box, and click 'Save Changes.'
4. Buyer will receive an email to complete the change of accounts.

If your buyer wants to transfer out of GD, refer to the above post.

I had to cancel the transaction because the domain I sold was a .eu
I couldnt transfer the domain without changing the whois info to the new owner's info, and godaddy forces you to agree to a 60 day waiting period if you change the whois name
