All of us use search engines like google, bing, etc. every day. However, what are some of the most efficient or creative ways of using them?

Everyone knows that to do a exact search you put something in quotes:

"Gay webmasters"

but what about, when you are looking for only a specific file type like 'gay webmaster' porn for your iphone?

You could use: Gay webmasters filetype:mp4

If you are looking for back links to a certain website you can always search for:

link: www.wickedfire.com

Those are obviously easy ones....

So what kind of search operators do YOU utilize to save time and money? What kind of creative ways have you found to do something?

To find niche related blogs to leave comments on I do:

inurl:blog "keyword"

Then set the time frame to past week or past month so I'm not getting blogs that haven't been updated since 2006.

There are also certain footprints you can use to find certain kinds of commenting modules that are auto approve/dofollow. I won't spoil all the fun though.

couple years ago when I used to look for gigs on CL, I would run queries like these every morning with breakfast:

web site:craigslist.org/cpg/
wordpress site:craigslist.org/cpg/
SEO site:craigslist.org/cpg/

and select "last 24 hours" in the Search options.

This will get me the latest gigs from all over North America. Take a few mins to apply to a couple of them (with a copy-pasted template message listing your portfolio and shit) and you're guaranteed to get at least 1-2 because you'll be among the first to answer.

the time search tool is handy for certain site: + "comments" that the owners close for comments after 6months/year....a few big financial sites close their comments after a certain time, but if you do a search from the last PR update you can usually find some goodie pages that are still open.

site:tumblr.com + KW and infographic + KW are good for finding stupid images to spam social sites with....

I've been using a few disqus footies since guerrillas webinar, but I wish there was some fancy pants way of quickly figuring out which sites have indexable comments since not all of them do...
