Setting an H1 Tag

I've googled, searched wordpress, tried different plug-ins, everything.

I can't get an h1 tag on my homepage in wordpress. Can someone explain in idiot terms how to do it?

The way I've been checking for the h1 tag is by viewing the page source.

Is there a good plug-in to do this?

Add a text widget to your sidebar. Then add in the heading tags manually. Thats what I do.

not sure if serious...anyway have you tried editing your content in HTML mode and manually adding the H1 tag?

Otherwise you can go to Appearance > Editor and edit all the files of your theme, hence put h1 tags wherever you want

If you are serious and this is not some kind of a joke, then you can manually add the header tag to the html of the site.
