OP, you are making the mistake of thinking of the law as black-and-white.

Try to understand the balances of power behind common "legal ramifications" and realize that the legal landscape is continually changing.

As for what you're planning to do? Yes, at the very least you're creating a bit of an excuse for lawyers to harass you.
