Let's say I have a website that collects massive quantities of email addresses directly from the users.

What major companies would buy them?

What do they pay?

How do they collect them from me?

Btw, I'm aware of the affiliate programs that have pre-made landing pages that collect emails, but that's not going to work here.

I should also add that I don't necessarily want to sell the email addresses that were already entered (that would be great if so, but is not necessary.) I would be fine plugging in some kind of feed that sends them to their database as well as mine, if that exists.

I think you first need to think about what sort of target demographic those email adresses represent. In other words, if your list of adresses was collected based on people who are all interested in forex trading - then you should try to sell the list to companies or cost-per-lead merchants that deal with forex. They are then likely to pay you a good sum for it.

Your list of forex-trading interested people are not gonna be worth anything to companies selling skincare products.

Get the drift? :)

I'm not email pro but I'll give you what I do kno. First of that's a very vague question. If they're totally generic and don't fall into any category they might be worth 1-3 cents if you have abided by CAN SPAM. With disclosures and what not where the submit their email. If they don't meet CAN SPAM and
are good leads for a niche you might be able to sell them to some spammer for 1-3 cents each again. Best case scenario is niche focused CAN SPAM compliant leads with proof that they are. If that's what you have it's all going to depend on the niche as I've heard good mortgage lists go for .25 cents to 1$ an email. Hope that helps.

maybe this is a very stupid question to ask..but.. does it legal to sell our email database?? I mean should we atleast inform the emails..owner of our decision to sell their emails?

If they are not co-reg and you would be willing to sell them exclusively, we might be intrested. Oh and they obviously must be opt-in.

Eduardo.

Just throw up a Privacy Policy on your site, where you say something like "we reserve the right to send you offers via your given e-mail adress, or share your adress with a 3rd-party company who may send you offers relevant to <NICHE/TOPIC>. We do not share e-mail adresseses with untrusted parties."

blah blah blah.... just type som legal b.s. around that, and you're good to go. If anyone ever complains, point them to your Privacy Policy. Chances are no one will remember that you actually didn't have a Privacy Policy at the time they submitted their email. :D

i dont think anyone 'BUY' these email addresses, i personally teach forex to 50+ forex-lovers, when i took that list in the market to get some email asvertisers/sponsor so that i can continue this education for free, i found no one interested.

PM me if you have any ideas....

Just to add to the forum...the average price a consumer pays is $1000 for 1 million full record opt in leads.

But here is the problem that a person might face when selling their database in the open market - a mailer wants to make money. They only want good leads. To purchase records from someone at random may cause more trouble than it's worth. How many of the records will bounce? Are there traps in the data? These are things a email broker will know. Wasting time means losing money. Not sure if anyone would be willing to take that chance.

There are a ton of brokers out there - that is prob your best bet for trying to sell data. But, like selling your car to a dealer - instead of the guy down the street...they are gonna give you less $$.

First off. They are no set prices for e-mail list. You can pay $90.00 for 1,000,000 or $100,000 for the same number of e-mail. What makes it different is (in short) the quality of the date. Is it harvested from some place and have no opt-in or is it legitimate and fresh, double opt-in, highly targeted, specialized.

Second don't sale unless you don't care what happen to this list and those people's e-mail address because in all likeliness they'll get bombarded by e-mail (and I am not selecting this term randomly - it will be the deluge). Best is to define your target and clean the date and then make a deal with a reputable company to manage this list for you and make sure that you have a solid agreement as far as what they can or cannot do. Finally seed the list to make sure they don't do what they said they wouldn't do. Don't take money up front but rather make a rev-share deal if you can.

If you still not sure contact me and I can see if I can do the above or send you in the right direction as long as your list is over 100K opt in address with preferably additional info like name, etc.

Good luck
