i was looking at dnscoop.com just now, they have a marketplace where people sell domains and somewhat developed sites. they all look like total BS and i dont understand why anyone would pay such ridiculous prices for this stuff. for example, live-cable-tv.info is asking $28k and movies-tube.info is asking $250k. do people actually pay this kinda money for this stuff???

both domains you mentioned are great deals IMO...

NOT. i second the question, i cant imagine anybody buying that.

Most of the people who post those prices know that they are asking way too much. I'd feel sorry for those who don't.

They are doing it on the off chance that some person in control of a big budget will pay it just because they can; something along the lines of the $1000 hammer or the $20,000 toilet seat.

Unfortunately, those people end up getting fired since they spent all the money on the domain and don't have enough left to pay for a decent developer.

Actually, this probably isn't the best place to ask this sort of question if you're after a real answer, considering the general vibe for domainers around here.

Seriosuly though ,the reasons why you see sales like this is because they've see some guy on Oprah that made $30k on a single domain sale. He's then written an (e)book about how he did it and made it seem so easy, and then filled it with recommendations on how people can do the same.
He never mentions specifically why the sites & domains that sell are worth so much. It's usually either a premium domain, or a site that has ended up becoming quite valuable in terms of information or community.

What he DOES know is that other domains have sold for hundreds of thousands of dollars... so why not his? Surely a domain with THREE generic words in it is worth more than a domain with only ONE, right?

And that's how the DP end of the domainer market works.

Oh ok, that's interesting. I couldn't tell if they were just scammers/bullshitters or what
