I just bought a swann 8Chan stand alone dvr (no relation to 4chan) it came with 8 cameras for $1000. I was wondering what kind of systems you guys have if any.

Im really interested in the recognition software but dont know where to start.

Forgot the name of my home system but I got it from Regent Range Ltd in UK. You get the cameras at a cheaper price than buying the branded ones in the states like Sony. Same parts inside and I can order custom shit as they are manufactured in the chinese factories that Sony and all those other brands put their logo on.

I was going to get a system by VueZone, but I decided to go with this instead...

Thanks man. I was actually looking this whole week and was going to post a thread here but saw this one. My car just got hit the second time and of course the driver didn't stop. Damn bars!

I've been using the Axis IP cameras for a long time now. Skip the WIFI versions as they seem to like to drop off constantly. There's a few decent open source IPCamera DVRs and some commercial ones (And even Axis has a decent one).

Do all of you guys have a Tony Montana style bank of tv's on the wall to monitor each camera, or do you just have it split screen on a big ass LCD?

I actually have a similar question. Can someone recommend a system that I could hook up 2 cameras and then send the wireless signal to all of the TV's in my house and my computer? I've been searching, but haven't found a good one yet that I know for sure will send the signal far enough through all the walls. There are a ton of cheap systems that say they can do it, but I'm guessing they suck ass.

I don't need DVR since I'm not really worried about crime, I just want to see who's at the front door or see my dog out back wherever I am in the house.
